TYL & AL esittävät: Ein deutsches Requiem

Helsinkiläinen Akateeminen Laulu ja Tampereen Yliopiston Laulajat yhdistävät voimansa ja esittävät kahdessa konsertissa saksalaisen säveltäjän Johannes Brahmsin (1833−1897) nimekkään teoksen Ein deutsches Requiemin, saksalaisen sielunmessun, sekä Helsingissä että Tampereella. Teoksesta kuullaan pianolla säestetty sekakuoroversio, jossa solisteina laulavat sopraano Tiia Maria Saari ja baritoni Sampo Haapaniemi sekä pianisteina Tiina Karakorpi ja Timo Latonen. Konsertit johtaa kuorojen taiteelliset johtajat Emmi Saulamaa sekä Dominik Vogt. 

Brahmsin Ein deutsches Requiem on yksi kuorosinfonian ehdottomista mestariteoksista. Teos on sävellyksenä hyvin yhtenäinen, mutta vivahteikas ja tasapainoinen. Teoksen seitsemän osaa perustuvat saksankielisiin, Martin Lutherin kääntämiin raamatunkohtiin. Brahms päätti tietoisesti olla käyttämättä perinteisiä requiem-tekstejä ja valitsi ei-dogmaattiset, ei-tunnustukselliset tekstit, mikä tekee teoksesta erityisen.

Akateeminen Laulu from Helsinki and Tampereen Yliopiston Laulajat join forces to perform two concerts featuring the renowned work Ein deutsches Requiem by the German composer Johannes Brahms (1833–1897), a German requiem, in both Helsinki and Tampere. The concerts will present a version of the work for mixed choir with piano accompaniment. The soloists are soprano Tiia Maria Saari and baritone Sampo Haapaniemi, with pianists Tiina Karakorpi and Timo Latonen. The concerts will be conducted by the choirs' artistic directors Emmi Saulamaa and Dominik Vogt.

Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem is considered one of the absolute masterpieces of choral symphony. The composition is highly cohesive yet nuanced and balanced. The seven movements of the piece are based on biblical texts in German, translated by Martin Luther. Brahms consciously chose not to use the traditional requiem texts, opting instead for non-dogmatic, non-confessional passages, which makes the work unique.

Doors open approximately one hour before the concert. Thirty minutes before the concert, the choir conductors will give a brief 15-minute introduction to the work for the audience, both in Finnish and English.
